He belongs to an R&D department consisting of people from very different backgrounds. Their daily focus is on looking into the future and the needs that it will bring for products and services in networks and data communication.
Joakim is an industrial designer who develops and explores design concepts for user interaction and user experiences. In this TechnoportTalk Joakim Formo speaks of the “Internet of Things”. He says that the Internet of Things needs innovative ways of interfacing with its users to make it clear that its power is not in any of its single connections, but in the totality of interconnections. He will present a thought-provoking concept with the working title “The Social Web of Things”. Ericsson Research is developing this platform and interaction model based on research into how people can intuitively understand and interact with a large number of interconnected smart objects. The “Internet of Things” must be easy to understand as something familiar, although it is new.
